How we choose products

Where our data comes from, how picks are made and how pages are checked.

Where the data comes from

  • Specifications come from manufacturers and store listings.
  • Prices and availability come from stores. They are refreshed regularly, and every page shows when it was last updated.
  • Ratings are the average score and the number of reviews shoppers left in stores. They are always shown with their source and never presented as our own score.

How picks are made

For each need — a kind of use, a feature or a budget — we compare models on the specifications that matter for it, their price and how shoppers rate them. A rating from a handful of reviews counts for less than one from hundreds, and a model whose listing contradicts itself is left out until the data is checked.

How pages are checked

Every page is checked automatically against our catalog before it is published: model names, prices, ratings and specifications must match the data we hold. Pages that fail these checks are kept out of search until they are fixed. We do not test products hands-on, and our pages do not claim that we did.

Corrections

If you find an error, tell us. We correct facts as soon as they are confirmed, and the page's update date changes with the edit.

Brands and stores

Manufacturers and stores do not see or approve our pages before they are published.
